Rare Fossil Seed Pod Fern Trigonocarpus Parkinsonia Radstock Somerset UK
Rare Fossil Seed Pod Fern Trigonocarpus Parkinsonia Radstock Somerset UK
Rarer fossil to acquire as there is not only the detailed fossil fern remains but a good sized seed pod with positive and negative impressions. It comes in two large half nodules which are the typical dark stone of the Carboniferous fossils found in this location. The half nodules make a beautiful show piece with the shiny dark convex seed pod on the one half nodule and on the other, the convex impression where the seed would have fitted.
Date: Carboniferous, Westphalian
Provenance: Kilmersden, Radstock, Somerset, UK
Size: Each nodule measures 15 cm tall and 9 cm wide. 2.5 kg
Condition: The specimens have some lovely detail and are very ephemeral showing something that was stopped in its tracks for reasons we will never know, and failing to reach its potential.
