This Priscacara has exceptionally superb detail and preservation It has an almost 3 D effect whereby the fine bones and structure stand out above the underling matrix. The fish is from the famous Green River Formation. This is a geological formation in a large area, including three separate basins ;Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. The Green River formation covers around 25,000 square miles, containing groups of sedimentary rock. The Eocene was sub-tropical in temperature, but specific conditions , leading to some incredible preservation, has given us an abundance of information about the Eocene Epoch, during the Cenozoic. Numerous well preserved fish have been found , as well as other more rare elements of the aquatic system, including plants, insects, arthropods, mollusks, amphibians and much more. Supplied with an acrylic  display stand.
