Half nodule of Dulcote Agate. The inner surface is polished, to revel the lovely cream and light rust coloured patterns . In the centre, there is a chamber revealing clusters of quartz.Dulcote Agate is also known as the Mendip potato stonereflecting it`s origin in the Mendip hills of Somerset. It was mined back in the 1970`s and these mines have now closed , so it is becoming harder to acquire. The Mendip quarries have yielded some excellent quality agate over the years. The agate occurred as nodules in the red marly clay, which overlay carboniferous . Supplied with a large clip and twist acrylic display stand. 14 x 10 cm 1 kg
