Lepidodendron fossil is an extinct genus of primitive lycopodian vascular plants belonging the order Lepidodendrales.The trees could grow up to 30 meters. From the Lycopod tree.I think the fossil is from the trunk as there are diamond shaped patterns on it, as opposed to the pitted circles seen on parts from the main tree. It has a 3 D appearance as the wood stands out from the matrix.
