Group of three and part of fourth fossil fish. The fish are from the famous Green River Formation. This is a geological formation in a large area, including three separate basins ;Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. The Green River formation covers around 25,000 square miles, containing groups of sedimentary rock. The Eocene was sub-tropical in temperature, but specific conditions , leading to some incredible preservation, has given us an abundance of information about the Eocene Epoch, during the Cenozoic. Numerous well preserved fish have been found , as well as other more rare elements of the aquatic system, including plants, insects, arthropods, mollusks, amphibians and much more. Supplied with a clip and twist acrylic display stand and small card pictured. The sardine tin is not provided and is used only to show you the size scale.
