Crinoids are marine animals that make up the class Crinoidea of the echinoderms (phylum Echinodermata). Crinoidea comes from the Greek word krinon, "a lily", and eidos, "form". They live both in shallow water and in depths as great as 9,000 meters (30,000 ft).Sea lilies refer to the crinoids which, in their adult form, are attached to the sea bottom by a stalk. Feather stars or comatulids refer to the unstalked forms. It is quite rare to be able to get a piece such as this as there is so much interest and detail and it is of a good size..The fossil comes with a large acrylic click and twist display stand.

Condition: The fossil shows numerous crinoid remains.- It has been very lightly waxed to bring up as much detail as possible..There are also crinoid remains on the reverse and sides. The piece has been repaired so please enlarge to see the hair line repair cracks. However, with a fossil of this size, it would be almost impossible to remove it from the ground without some repair afterwards. Under magnification the detail is very fine. 9958
