Polished labradorite gemstone pendant , each displaying a slightly different blue .The colours are displayed when the pendant catches the light. This is on a background of grey-green stone, often appearing dull until caught by light. A member of the Feldspar family , silicates class A. It was discovered in the 18 th Century. The name labradorite is derived from the area called Labrador in Canada, as it was here that the stone was first mined. Folklore of the Inuit people, claim Labradorite fell from the frozen fire of the aurora Borealis. The remarkable display of colour is known as labradorescence. In healing circles, it is thought to bring transformation, imparting strength and perseverance. Each pendant is unique and very slightly different in both shape and size. The pendant surround is made from silver plated sterling silver .925. The chain is silver plated. It is supplied in a black velvet drawstring gift bag and with small card pictured.
